The Thread of Life Quilters

.

The Thread of Life Quilters use the blessings of creativity and skill in service to others. If your interest mirrors ours, please come join us: ALL ARE WELCOME!

.

We embark upon a year of giving in 2012, and by giving of ourselves we will make it a Happy New Year for many! This year we will create for the benefit of various charitable organizations, in addition sponsoring our Quilt Raffle to benefit St. John’s. Among the organizations for which we plan to quilt are: Mary’s Shelter in Stuart, Florida; Birthline (the organization sponsored by the parish through the giving tree at Christmas); Project Linus in Palm Beach County; and the Quilts of Valor Foundation. We will make baby quilts for the first two organizations and for the third we will make various sized quilts for children who are seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise in need. For our four-footed friends, we’ve made over 100 blankets/quilts for Tri-County Humane Society at our Project Sewing Day in January.

.

Through the dedication of quilters in past years, we have supported a variety of charitable efforts. We were able to underwrite the purchase of the Advent Wreath in 2010; we have supported the Quilts of Valor Foundation, providing quilts to returning wounded members of the armed forces; and we provided more than 75 pillowcases for ConKerr Cancer.

.

We gather to further develop our skill and knowledge of the art, to enable us to bring beauty to the world, and to support each other, both in the ministry and in our daily lives, as quilters have done for centuries. Food, fun, joy and laughter are hallmarks of our gatherings, and we hope you’ll consider joining us!

Classes

Many of us are relatively new to our enjoyment of this art form, and so we wish to share the opportunity with others who may have an interest in exploring the art of quilting, with no commitment. Please contact us if you have an interest in learning to quilt, by calling the office.

Quilt Raffle

We will begin selling raffle tickets in early September with proceeds to benefit St. John’s, and anticipate drawing the winning ticket in mid-October.
